Would you believe there was a time when Makati Feast builder Randy Borromeo wanted to serve but he was not chosen to go in front to give a talk? But he did not let it stop him. He still attended the prayer meetings, serving in the “lesser known” ministries, arranging chairs, cleaning the toilet, and the like.
His dream of being able to preach remained in his heart, so he would practice preaching to the plants in their garden. 22 years later, his consistency and patience were rewarded. Not only did they have a flourishing garden, but he is now the one we see preaching every week. With his eyes on the reward, despite challenges, the conviction that hard work and sacrifice will pay off in the end made him endure.
Last Sunday, Bro. Randy discussed the Laws of the Farm. Nature gives the primary example of the principle – “You reap what you sow”. When you plant mangoes, you reap mangoes. If you want to reap kindness, you should sow kindness. If you want to be respected, you give respect. Bro. Randy used to wonder why people didn’t smile at him. Then he realized it was because he didn’t smile at people.
Perhaps we were not aware that we reap what others have sown in us. People can sow good or bad in others. If people sowed negative stuff in you, realize that you have the power to win over that. It is no use blaming others for your miseries. It is up to you to rise up, look for and reap the positive things people have sown in your life.
The reason we may not be seeing the rewards of our hardship may be because “Rewards don’t come instantly but in time”. God is never late. He is rarely early, always just on time.
Galatians 6:9 says, Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Keep the faith, PUSH (pray until something happens), and believe you will receive the reward in due time. Of course, don’t forget to sow first – act!
If you are not reaping rewards you should be reaping already, let it go and pray for opportunities. Sometimes you have to let go, and believe God will reward you. Even if people do not reward you, we have a God who does not sleep. Believe with all your heart, God’s reward will come!
Infinite striving to be the best is man’s duty; it is its own reward. Everything else is in God’s hands. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
