Remember when you were in high school? The teacher gave you math problems to solve. In order to pass, you had to provide a solution to the math problem. No solution, no score. Each problem always had a solution.
It’s good to be reminded of this whenever you have a problem. You don’t need to look elsewhere for the solution. If you have God on your side, no problem is insurmountable. The book of Proverbs gives the perfect message of guidance and encouragement: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (3:5).
You’ve had this problem for so long, but God did not seem to care… trust God! Trusting God however does not mean you’ll just wait there. God wants you to be part of the solution.
Bro. Randy Borromeo recounted the story of King Jehoshaphat who was faced with a vast army. The king got the message ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s’ (2 Chronicles 20:15). Although they did not have to fight, they had to march to face their enemies, and they did it singing praises to God. Their enemies killed each other, leaving them to stand victorious in the end.
The best way to solve a problem is not through passivity or pride, but by focusing on your purpose. God assures there are solutions to our problems. Be still and know He is God. Being still means not just sitting there, but listening, asking for guidance and discerning what the Lord’s will is.
The mass celebrated the Feast of the Child Jesus. During the homily Fr. Eric Santos said Filipinos have a tendency to favor looking at Jesus as a child. But Jesus did not remain a child. He became a man who set out to fulfill His mission. That was the Father’s will for him.
God always answers prayers. The answer could be yes, not yet, or no. Do not despair with a “no.” Unanswered prayers give you room to grow in faith, and develop a hunger for God. Grow in the knowledge that God is God no matter what happens. Trust, be still, and know that for man it is impossible but with God all things are possible. There you got the solution.
